Holistic Pelvic CareTM

WHAT IS HOLISTIC PELVIC CARETM (HPC)?
Holistic Pelvic Care TM(HPC) is a technique consisting of physical and energetic tools designed to evaluate and restore balance in the pelvic space of the female body. It was developed by Tami Lynn Kent, a women’s health physical therapist in Portland, Oregon and author of the groundbreaking book Wild Feminine: Finding Power, Spirit, & Joy in the Root of the Female Body. The primary goal of HPC is to empower a woman to inhabit her pelvic space and occupy her feminine ground physically, energetically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Check out my guest post on Bodies For Birth here.

WHO WOULD BENEFIT?
Holistic Pelvic Care would benefit any woman seeking a deeper connection to her core vitality. By accessing her wild feminine wisdom, a woman is free to explore her creative essence. Symptoms of physical or energetic imbalances that block or limit a woman’s pelvic energy may include:

dysmennorhea, fertility issues, fibroids, recovery from miscarriage, endometriosis, PCOS, painful intercourse, incontinence, vaginitis, difficult menopause, pelvic pain or muscle weakness, uterine or bladder prolapse, pelvic trauma, feelings of disconnect from self and core creative essence.

HPC is a must for postpartum care or cesarean recovery.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING A SESSION?
During the initial session a detailed health history is taken and basic pelvic anatomy is introduced. As a licensed acupuncturist and East Asian Medicine Practitioner, I am also interested in your general health and well being. I may feel your pulses and look at your abdomen (hara diagnosis), and do some acupressure or light acupuncture. The hands-on portion will take place on a massage table with guided imagery, visualizations, and detailed pelvic work in order to assess and lightly treat any physical and energetic blockages, or imbalances in the pelvic bowl space. We will then discuss self-care and answer any questions.WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER A SESSION?
Many women feel a renewed sense of connection and awareness in their root – calm, centered and grounded. Energy and blood flow are increased to the pelvic bowl and many women report a decrease in overall symptoms and a strengthening of pelvic floor muscle engagement. Most women do a series of three HPC sessions while practicing and gaining confidence in their self-care techniques. The techniques of HPC are extremely gentle, yet the effects are profound.
