The childbearing year is a time of great expectation
and joy. Birth is a powerful, sacred, and natural event
that changes a woman’s perspective forever. Giving birth is a journey and presents a tremendous opportunity for personal growth. Women and families should have access to information and resources about healthy pregnancy, prenatal care, birthing options, breastfeeding, and postpartum care. Pregnancy is a wonderful opportunity to fully connect body / mind / spirit – of not one but for two. Enjoy your pregnancy!
Regular acupuncture and massage treatments can help ensure a healthy pregnancy, by directly treating or supplementing western treatments of many conditions relating to pregnancy. These include but are not limited to: prevention of miscarriage, reduction of morning sickness, fatigue, headaches, sinus congestion, constipation, heartburn, hypertension, back pain, sciatica, carpal tunnel, swollen feet and ankles, aids in correction of breech presentation, aids in a natural labor induction and prevention of postpartum depression.
Modern Research: In the Journal of Birth 2002, a study found that acupuncture is an effective treatment option for women experiencing nausea and other pregnancy related discomforts – without any adverse side effects.

Acupuncture Postpartum: Mothering the Mother
Although she will be very busy, a new mother should be encouraged to get acupuncture and massage treatments after delivery. The restoration of her own health is imperative for her own well being as well as for her ability to be present for her newborn. Among the
conditions that acupuncture can address after birth are: fatigue, postpartum vaginal discharge, postpartum depression, mastitis, insufficient or excessive lactation, and aids in post operative healing in cases of cesarean section.
